How to Make Sure You Get the Official Version
The only way to be certain you have the genuine PhotoScape is to install it from the channel Mooii Tech itself uses. Store installs are delivered and verified by Microsoft or Apple, and the publisher name on the listing must read Mooii Tech. Mooii Tech does not publish standalone installers or file hashes for PhotoScape X, so any site offering an “official” PhotoScape X .exe — or hashes for one — is not describing an official package.
After Installing: Sensible First Steps
Three things worth doing right after a store install — no unofficial tweaks required.
Install and Update Through the Store
PhotoScape X installs and updates through the Microsoft Store or Mac App Store app on your device, which also handles licensing for the optional Pro unlock. There is no official silent-install package for managed deployments; on a managed device, ask your administrator to approve the store listing.
Check the Version You Received
On Mac, the current release is 4.3.1 and needs macOS 13 or later; the App Store will only offer builds your system can run. On Windows, the Store listing always serves the current build for Windows 10/11 — if an update is pending, it appears in the Store app under Library.
Back Up Originals Before Editing
Batch edits and format conversions can overwrite or duplicate large folders quickly. Keep an untouched copy of your original photos — on an external drive or in cloud storage — before running batch jobs, so any mistake is reversible.

Q. I downloaded PhotoScape from a file-sharing site and Windows Defender shows an alert. What should I do?
Take the alert seriously. PhotoScape X has no official standalone installer, so an executable obtained from a file-sharing site did not come through an official channel and cannot be vouched for. Delete the file and install PhotoScape X from the Microsoft Store instead, where the publisher is Mooii Tech.
Q. How can I tell whether my copy of PhotoScape is genuine?
Install from an official channel and check the publisher: Microsoft Store and Mac App Store listings for PhotoScape X are published by Mooii Tech, and the official PhotoScape website (photoscape.org) is the home of the classic 3.7 edition. Mooii Tech does not publish MD5 or SHA hashes for the store packages, so a “matching hash” on a third-party site is not proof of anything — the source is the verification.
Q. I installed PhotoScape X from the Mac App Store, but macOS will not open it. What now?
Apps installed from the Mac App Store are signed and verified by Apple, so this message should not appear for a genuine install. Restart your Mac, confirm you are on macOS 13 or later, then delete the app and reinstall it from the App Store. Never run Terminal commands to strip quarantine flags from apps downloaded elsewhere — that removes the protection Gatekeeper exists to provide.
